STUDY CONTRACT SIGNED

In June 2009, the City of Quebec and SNCF International signed a service contract for a study of the economic, socio-economic environmental and financial impacts of the high-speed train project for the Quebec / Windsor corridor. In July 2009, five SNCF experts travelled to Canada to collect the data needed to carry out the study.

Régis Labeaume, the Mayor of Quebec City, and the person who initiated the request, said "this study will provide us with the learnings we need to better explain the project to people". For the SNCF experts, the population density on the Quebec / Windsor corridor and the distances separating the main population centres, along with the project's economic and socio-economic factors, all argue strongly in favour of deploying a high -speed rail network serving the urban aeras of Quebec, Montreal, Laval, Ottawa, Toronto, London and Windsor.

The final report will be submitted in the first quarter of 2010.
